A fabulous elegant historic hotel. We had a wonderful three-night stay. The room was opulent and updated. Every amenity you could need. The staff was attentive and helpful. The location was perfect, we walked to dining, shops and even the Hovercraft to Isle of Wight.

Probably the best hotel I’ve stayed in around Portsmouth/Southsea Love the traditional grand building, as well as on site parking. Location is ideal and rooms are cosy and nicely decorated. Great facilities, even though plug sockets could be a little more accessible by the bed. What a view from the room window!

Elegant historic hotel with a grand hotel lobby conveniently located near the hovercraft to Isle of Wight as well as the D-Day museum. Parking is available right infront of the property but do remember to validate it as soon as you arrive! The rooms are simple and a bit dated but comfortable with helpful information guides put together by the hotel with local discounts. There is breakfast you can pay additional for however i did not partake so I cannot comment on the food although the options as well as the drinks did appear to be on the pricier side. The staff were warm and friendly and allowed me to remain parked with my bags at the desk for quite some time after checkout! Would absolutely stay again if im in the area.

We had Sunday lunch in the restaurant and the whole experience was excellent. All of the staff we encountered were smiling, friendly, helpful and efficient. We couldn’t fault them. The restaurant manager (?) went out of her way to find us a suitable table for someone hard of hearing when the restaurant was very busy. We enjoyed the live music and the food was excellent. We will be back, even if it’s just for the Baked Alaska, which was a real triumph. Thank you

I’ve been to this hotel a couple of times now to attend events and stay. The service is exceptional, the food is fantastic and the rooms we have had are lovely. I had two brilliant cocktails in the bar last night the barman made them expertly and quickly. We will definitely be visiting again

I went to have food in the restaurant, the food was good. However, we booked for 2:30 pm and we arrived 2:20pm. We waited at the bar till around 3 pm, still no one gave us our table. We saw some empty table and I asked a waiter is our table ready and he said "I will ask my manager". My husband thought we will just sit down. Throughout, no one apologised to us and the manager gave us looks when we wanted to order food. We did enjoy our mains a lot and the jazz music, they didnt have the alaska dessert that we looked forward to though. Will come again because of the atmosphere but didn't appreciate the attitude of the manager.

What a great experience with superb staff! We organised a black tie event in Libby's room for 25 people and we couldn't have been happier with the experience. Alice from events was outstanding and her patience, responsiveness and flexibility meant I was able to organise the event with very little stress. They catered expertly for an attendee with a severe nut allergy and responded to difficult requests with clarity. Our supervisor for the event on the night (Cam) was polite, patient and attentive which meant I could relax but be sure our guests were well looked after throughout the meal, and afterwards. Duke's bar staff and the night staff topped off the night which meant our guests staying at the hotel were catered for and felt welcome and wanted throughout a few drinks in the bar to end the night. The reception rooms are beautiful and clean, but the rooms in the hotel feel a little overpriced and tired in areas, but this didn't overshadow what was an exceptional evening. Thank you!
